Self-care on Country
Learn about and participate in self-care by connecting with peers, experiencing nature and engaging in the physical activity of walking.
Join Be You Consultants Kathryn Hopps and Alicia Marshall for an hour of self-care on Country at Jerrabomberra wetlands.
Accompany us on-site for a walk around Jerrabomberra wetlands in Canberra, or join us online via a live-stream and participate in self-care from a favourite location on your own Country. During this one-hour activity, you’ll learn about the importance of self-care for early learning service educators at the same time as participating in self-care by connecting with peers, experiencing nature, practicing mindfulness and engaging in the physical activity of walking.
Kathryn and Alicia will be joined by special guest Richie Allan, Ngunnawal lore keeper and Kamiliroi traditional custodian.
Richie is the Cultural Director of Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation - the peak Indigenous organisation representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs in Canberra. He has been working with early learning services and schools in the ACT for some time, assisting them to embed Ngunnawal education in their curriculum. Richie (@mrngunnawal) is a well-known and respected member of the Twitter community, sharing language, culture and messages of positivity to a national and international audience.
If you choose to join us online, we encourage you to also be in an outdoor location where you can do the same as the on-site participants.
